About this Item

The Variegated Hoya Heart (Hoya kerrii variegata), often called Valentine or Sweetheart Hoya, is a popular succulent vine known for its thick, heart-shaped leaves featuring deep green centers and creamy-white to yellow margins. Native to Southeast Asia, it is low-maintenance, requiring bright, indirect light and infrequent watering, making it an ideal gift or indoor houseplant.

Key Characteristics and Care:
  • Appearance: Leaves are waxy and succulent-like. Variegation patterns are unique to each leaf.
  • Growth Habit: While often sold as a single, rooted leaf (which may never grow further), full plants develop into slow-growing, trailing vines that can reach up to 13 feet.
  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; too much intense sun can scorch the leaves, while too little inhibits growth.
  • Watering: Requires minimal water. Let the soil dry out significantly between waterings (roughly every 7–10 days) to avoid root rot.
  • Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in temperatures between 65–80°F (
  • Flowers: Mature plants can produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers that are white to pale yellow with burgundy centers.
