Euphorbia anoplia, or Tanzanian Zipper Plant, is a slow-growing, clumping succulent native to Africa, renowned for its spineless, ribbed green columns that resemble a zipper. Growing up to 1 foot tall, this leafless plant produces small maroon, red, or purple flowers in spring/summer and is perfect for containers, requiring bright light and little water.

- Appearance: Often mistaken for a cactus, it has cylindrical, light green to bluish-green stems (approx. 1-3 cm in diameter) with distinct dark green/white horizontal bands that create a “zipper” pattern.
- Stem Habit: It forms dense, vertical colonies, branching from the base to form columns.
- Spines/Leaves: Generally spineless, though small, soft, or woody protrusions may exist, and it is largely leafless.
- Flowers: Small, nectar-producing flowers known as cyathia, usually deep red or purplish, appear at the top of the stems.
- Toxicity: Like many Euphorbias, it contains a white, sticky latex sap that can cause skin irritation, so it should be handled with care.
