About this Item

Echeveria secunda (Blue Echeveria) is a popular, low-maintenance succulent that forms tight, 6-inch wide rosettes of fleshy, blue-gray leaves with pinkish, red, or brown tips. Native to Mexico, it produces arching, 1-foot tall stems with yellow and red bi-colored flowers in spring/summer, and is ideal for rock gardens or containers.

Key Characteristics:
  • Appearance: Forms compact, symmetrical rosettes of oval-shaped, keeled leaves, often covered with a powdery coating (farina) that provides a silvery-blue look.
  • Coloration: Leaves are primarily blue-green, with distinct pink to red shades developing on the leaf edges and tips during winter.
  • Size: The plant generally stays small, reaching up to 6 inches (15 cm) in height and width, making it a “hen-and-chickens” type that produces many offsets.
  • Flowers: In late spring, it produces 1-foot (30 cm) tall arching, pinkish stems bearing numerous bell-shaped flowers with red calyces and yellow petals.
