About this Item

Echeveria Elegans ‘Blue’ (Mexican Snowball) is a popular, low-maintenance succulent forming tight, stemless rosettes of fleshy, pale blue-green or silvery-gray leaves. It has a powdery, waxy farina coating for protection, thrives in bright sunlight, and produces arching pink flowers with yellow tips in winter/spring, often creating clumping “hen and chicks” clusters.

Key Characteristics & Care
  • Appearance: Pale blue-green to silvery-gray leaves with a powdery, waxy (farina) coating. Leaves are spoon-shaped and arranged in a perfect, compact rosette.
  • Growth Pattern: Slow-growing to moderate, forming dense, clumping mounds of small rosettes (pups/chicks) around a central rosette (hen).
  • Size: Generally 5–10 cm (2–4 in) tall and can form clusters over 30 cm wide.
  • Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade (at least 6 hours of bright light).
  • Watering: Drought-tolerant. Uses the “soak and dry” method—water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry.
  • Soil: Requires very well-draining soil, such as a succulent or cactus mix, often amended with sand or perlite.
  • Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 65-80°F (
