About this Item

Echeveria runyonii ‘Topsy Turvy’ is a fast-growing, evergreen succulent known for its unique pale blue-green to silvery-grey, heavily curled, spoon-shaped leaves that point upward and inward. Forming rosettes up to 10 inches wide, it is a hardy, drought-tolerant plant with powdery white farina that blooms bright orange flowers on long stalks in summer.

Key Characteristics & Care Details:
  • Unique Foliage: Leaves are strongly keeled on the lower surface, giving them a whimsical “inverted” or “curled” appearance.
  • Size: Grows up to 8–10 inches (25 cm) in diameter and about 6 inches (15 cm) tall, forming dense clusters.
  • Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Bright light is needed to maintain its silvery color and compact shape; otherwise, it may turn green and stretch.
  • Watering: Requires the “soak and dry” method—water deeply when the soil is completely dry (roughly every 7–10 days).
  • Hardiness: Hardy in USDA Zones 9–12, preferring temperatures between 18°C–30°C. It is not frost-tolerant and should be protected in temperatures below freezing.
  • Propagation: Easily propagated through leaf cuttings, stem cuttings, or by separating the many offsets (pups) that grow around the base.
  • Maintenance: Low maintenance, but requires well-draining soil and is ideal for pots, rock gardens, and succulent arrangements.
  • Toxicity: Generally considered safe and non-toxic to humans and pets.
