Monstera sp. Peru

Monstera sp. Peru is a collectible tropical Monstera in the Araceae family, grown mainly for its distinctive foliage and climbing habit. Suitable for a bright indoor collection or protected tropical growing area.

PLANT CARE
Watering: Water when the top 2–5 cm of the potting mix feels dry. Water thoroughly and let excess water drain. Avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.
Temperature: Best around 18–30°C. Protect from cold drafts and prolonged temperatures below about 12–15°C.
Sunlight: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Gentle morning sun can be tolerated, but avoid harsh afternoon sun, especially on variegated forms.
Fertilizer: Feed lightly with a balanced houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding in cool or slow-growth periods.
Soil: Use a loose, airy, fast-draining aroid mix with coco peat or peat, bark, perlite/pumice and some compost. The mix should hold some moisture without becoming waterlogged.
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity, roughly 50–80%, is preferred. Provide airflow, especially in very humid conditions.
Sowing / Seed: Fresh seed can be sown in a warm, moist, airy medium, but named cultivars and variegated collector forms are normally propagated vegetatively because seedlings may not stay true to type.
Propagation: Usually propagated from a healthy stem cutting containing at least one node; air layering and division are also useful where appropriate. Keep the node warm and lightly moist until roots establish.
